We are looking for a qualified and motivated research technician (full-time, 40 h/w) to work on the project In vivo reprogramming to rescue alterations in Huntington’s disease funded by “La Caixa” Foundation, at the Grade lab. Sofia Grade and her team seek to expand our knowledge of the diseased brain and guide the development of intervention strategies for repair.

Project Summary

Huntington’s disease (HD) is the most common inherited neurodegenerative disorder caused by mutations in the huntingtin gene. Our knowledge about the alterations that occur during brain development and how they translate into the pathology in the adult is scarce. The proposal addresses this fundamental yet poorly understood question by characterizing the effects of HD in neuronal progenitors and circuit assembly during development and their impact on neuronal functionality at postnatal stages. We aim to revert alterations by cell reprogramming to delay the onset or diminish HD phenotype in the adult.

Your qualifications:

  • PhD degree in biology, biomedicine, biotechnology or similar, or extensive relevant experience
  • Scientific contributions that have been acknowledged by co-authorships
  • Enthusiasm for developmental neuroscience, advanced imaging and analytical tools
  • Strong laboratory skills and high independence level
  • Collaborative mindset, excellent communication skills and proficiency in English

Additional assets will be considered a plus such as:

  • Good understanding of mouse brain anatomy
  • Background in brain development and/or neurodegeneration
  • Prior experience in neural circuit tracing and light-sheet microscopy
  • Proficiency in Fiji / Imaris
