Takeda’s Gene Therapy Downstream Process Development team is seeking a talented and highly motivated candidates pursuing a Master of Science program. The proposed MSc thesis is focused on downstream purification of recombinant Adeno-Associated Virus (rAAV), one of the leading vectors for gene therapy.
Production of clinical-grade AAVs relies on a combination of chromatography and/or ultracentrifugation unit operations. This master thesis aims to develop novel chromatography and ultracentrifugation methods, for improved AAV downstream purification. The unit operations will be first developed at lab-scale, where critical process parameters (CPPs) will be identified and then selected CPPs will be optimized. Lastly, the results will be confirmed at pilot-scale through scale-up.
The project includes the following tasks:
Planning and execution of experiments
Data evaluation using selected mathematical software (R or Phyton preferred)
Preparation and presentation of results in internal meetings
Collaboration with internal, cross-functional teams and academic researchers
Your Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree students in Biology, Biotechnology or related disciplines with strong interest in downstream processing
Basic knowledge of purification methods
Willingness to work hands-on in wet lab
High motivation, good communication and team player skills
Strong curiosity on exploring data and visualization skills
Excellent command of German and English
