Job Description

Head Quality Microbiology (w/m/d)

Linz Upper Austria

The position is embedded in the local Linz Quality Leadership team, leading the microbiological laboratory team and reporting to the Site Quality Head. The role strongly demonstrates the Takeda leadership behavior and values: decision making is based on using the PTRB (Patient, Trust, Reputation & Business) lens.

How you will contribute:

  • Mentoring and development of strong teams ensuring safe and non-discriminatory working environment

  • Head of Quality Control according to Austrian AMBO (Arzneimittelbetriebsordnung); bulk batches management

  • Management and operation of the Microbiology laboratory according to both cGMP requirements and Takeda quality standards

  • Representant of the microbiological lab as interface with investigators as well as internal and external customers

  • Improvement of projects under required high quality standards with lab excellence mindset

  • Support of network initiatives and community of practice (CoP) operating mechanisms

  • Strong cooperation with stakeholders (Manufacturing & Quality) in proactive functions that impact production, solve problems, improve quality, increase efficiency, generate cost savings, and provide new product support

  • Leading of complex investigations and trending laboratory results

What you bring to Takeda:

  • Master/PhD degree (Microbiology or equivalent Natural Sciences) 

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in microbiology laboratories (cell culture testing)/ QC analysis/ pharmaceutical industry

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in German and English

  • Expertise in government regulations

  • Agile & proactive mindset

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving, data driven person

  • Solid interpersonal skills (communication/ influencing/ negotiation / leadership)

  • Experience in managing employees

  • The minimum salary for this position is € 5,700 gross per month. Depending on qualifications and experience, we are willing to pay more.

Important Considerations

At Takeda, our patients rely on us to deliver quality products. As a result, we must follow strict rules in our manufacturing facilities to ensure we are not endangering the quality of the product. In this role, you may:

  • Work in a controlled environment requiring special gowning and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body. This may include additional hearing protection for loud areas.

  • Need to remove all make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish and/or artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment.

  • Work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and Celite that may require respiratory protection.
