Lab technician / Staff Scientist
Evaluation of industrial lactic acid production strains
in Vienna / Austria for 40 hours a week
That’s the project
Syconium Lactic Acid GmbH developed yeast strains for polymer grade lactic acid production at low pH. Production of lactic acid at low pH is advantageous, because it eases the purification of the acid which increases the economic potential of this microbial chemical production process. Therefore, the lower the pH can get, the cheaper the chemical will be. However, high lactic acid concentration at low pH is detrimental to the cell factories and decreases productivity.
This project will analyse the potential of the Syconium strains under a number of industrially relevant conditions and set the base for industrial exploitation. Batch cultures of the strains in shake flask and bioreactor will allow to model productivity of the strains under the chosen conditions - with the final aim of upscaling the process.
