Development of a microcarrier based platform process for antigen manufacturing
in Vienna / Austria for 30 hours a week
That’s the project
Vaccine production is often based on the cultivation of animal cells, especially adherent cell cultures on microcarriers. These are, as is state of the art, transfected with a virus stock once the cells have reached a quasi monolayer. However, the scale-up, which requires multiple cell transfer between carriers, requires a deeper understanding of the process. Taking a quality by design (QbD) approach critical process steps shall be identified and a hybrid model of cultivation and transfection developed.
The overall goal is to develop an easily transferable platform process to shorten the time to market of vaccines and to ensure the production of safe and affordable biopharmaceuticals.
That could be your future me
You are working on a challenging and highly topical, industrial project in a social environment full of team spirit and enthusiasm. You have numerous possibilities for further education and personal development. The industrial context will expand your expertise beyond the laboratory.
And not to forget: You are making your research visible and broadening your network!
That’s important to us
Preferably, you have completed a master’s degree or diploma at a recognized university in chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology or related fields. Research experiences in the following areas would be fine:
Up Stream processing of mammalian cells (Fermentation)
Bioanalytics (HPLC, ELISA,…)
You should enjoy the work in an international interdisciplinary environment.
That’s what you should know (remuneration and start date)
minimum yearly gross payment of EUR 30,800 (PhD 30 h/week).
