Research Technician - Tanaka Lab

The lab’s research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying regeneration in amphibian models and promoting regeneration in mammalian models.   The lab employs a wide array of molecular biology, histology and in vivo approaches to identify pro-regenerative mechanisms.

The responsibilities for this position will be:

  • Amphibian transgenesis
  • Routine molecular biology techniques (PCR, cloning)
  • Cellular assays (tissue culture, proliferation assays, FACS)
  • Mouse work
  • General lab support (managing equipment, supplies, and reagents)
  • Training of new lab members

Your qualifications:

  • Bachelor, Master, or PhD degree (or equivalent) with strong wet-lab experience
  • High motivation to work in an international, fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to handle mice
  • Previous experience with amphibian or fish is an asset
  • Tissue culture and FACS experience is an asset
  • High accuracy, reliability, precision under time pressure
  • Accurate math skills
  • Willingness to perform routine tasks
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks 
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Friendly, collaborative, and pro-active mindset
  • Good English-language communication skills (German skills are not required)

Our offer:

We offer a dynamic lab, an international work environment (employees come from 40 different countries) and a chance to make an important contribution to basic biomedical research. The position also offers opportunities for further training in multidisciplinary techniques spanning molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, and animal work. The annual gross salary will be € 31.024 or higher, - full-time (40 hrs/week), depending on qualification and experience.  Current position is for two years.
