Area Account Manager - Material Characterization, Extruders and Rheometers (home based)

Location: Baden-Württemberg, Hessen, Rheinland Pfalz
 
 
We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Area Account Manager to drive the Material Characterization business in Hessen, Rheinland Pfalz and Baden Württemberg.
 
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
 

  • Meet or exceed order bookings targets, through growing and creating additional business at existing and new accounts within the defined geographical region
  • In this role the Area Account Manager will be responsible for securing and retaining business through professional, consultative, proactive sales activity directed preferentially at decision makers and decision influencers
  • This activity will require a high level of business development
  • The rep will utilize sales planning and pipeline management through the Salesforce.com and other company systems and tools. He/she will also be required to work closely with colleagues from other business units and functions such as the Application Specialist team, Inside Customer Service, Technical Services, Marketing, Technical Experts, and Procurement etc.
  • The planning activities also includes coordination for:
  • Seminars and Workshops
  • Sponsoring Account Technology Events
  • And Thermo Fisher internal events
  • Work cooperatively and effectively with your immediate colleagues in the Thermo Fisher Scientific Sales and Service groups as well as with other Thermo Fisher Scientific colleagues, to ensure at all times a high level of customer satisfaction with our products and services

 
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications: 
 

  • Minimum Bachelor degree or other degrees with additional relevant qualification. Good Knowledge of Material Sciences, Pharmaceuticals and/or Polymers
  • Sales experience preferably into analytical markets, with a track record of achieving targets (Capital Equipment in the field of Material Sciences, Pharmaceuticals or Polymer production would be a plus)
  • Working knowledge within Extrusion and/or Rheology is desirable
  • Ability to grow the business by identifying new target accounts each year and be able to develop and execute territory plans

 
Personal Spec: 
 

  • Good communication and presentation skills in German and English
  • Excellent time management and ability to multi task
  • Highly motivated and competitive must be a self-starter and high driven  
  • Can lead a discussion with scientists as well as commercial stakeholders
  • Maintain a professional appearance
  • Must be a team player with ability to interface across internal and external complex matrix organizations
  • High level of IT skills/computer literacy

 
Non-Negotiable Hiring Criteria: 
 

  • Degree level or high qualification in a scientific discipline preferably Chemistry or Physical Sciences
  • Experienced Sales Professional with a proven track record in achieving sales quotas and managing sales territory and product knowledge of Molecular and or Material Sciences
  • The ability to work on own initiative and to meet deadlines and targets
  • Must be highly sales driven and have the ability to work on their own and be creative in developing tactical sales plans and executing these in a timely fashion to deliver results
  • Use market intelligence to open up new channels of sales
  • Fluent in German (written & spoken)
  • Business knowledge in English (written and spoken)
  • A good level of interpersonal, motivational and organizational skills
  • Must reside within assigned Territory (home office)
  • Valid Driving license
  • Experience of using sales database, outlook and MS office suite
